Manchaster based Modus Properties have submitted a planning application for a shopping centre development in Crewe town centre in Cheshire. Modus are proposing a scheme of 350,000 sq.ft which will be anchored by a department store and four other medium sized units.
A further 25 shop units will be provided adjacent to the town's relocated bus station. In addition, 840 car park spaces are being provided for the scheme. Pending a timely approval of the application, the construction should commence in October 2006 with the new development opening in Spring 2008.
Mike Riddell, a Modus Director said: "This scheme will transform Crewe town centre. People living in Crewe and the neighbouring districts will no longer have to travel to Chester to access top high street names".
He Continued: "This development will push Crewe high up the pecking order in terms of retail hierarchy. It will bring a lasting legacy for Crewe and will secure the future of the town".
